Use of detection dogs
Specialized in drug detection
The dog’s nose is an impressive sense: while a human has approximately five million scent receptors, a dog’s nose contains an average of 200 million scent receptors. This allows dogs to accurately locate odour sources. Detect Dogs’ sniffer dogs are specialized in the detection of drugs. This concerns the most common narcotics and drugs such as cannabis, hashish, cocaine, speed, GHB, heroin, XTC and MDMA.
Under difficult circumstances
The Detect Dogs detection dogs are very well trained and can work under all circumstances. The dogs can be used to search different types of vehicles, spaces, goods and outdoor areas. In addition, the dogs are trained to search for people. We prepare them for difficult situations, such as the hectic pace that we often encounter in schools. Even when threatened, the dogs are not distracted and do their job meticulously.
Extra dogs in larger searches
When the detection dog detects drugs, it sits or lies down. This way the dog handler knows that something has been found. Depending on the situation, the dogs are leashed or used loose.
For larger searches, Detect Dogs deploys additional detection dogs. This work is very tiring for the dogs. The dog handlers know their sniffer dogs through and through. They also know when it is time to switch dogs.
